When the final whistle blew on November 5, 2010, at Beto Avila Stadium in Cancun, Mexico, the fans and the Women’s Mexican National Team erupted into cheers. Two of the players on that field were University of San Diego soccer stars Natalie Vinti and Natalie Garcia. They described their experiences as something they could have never imagined. This victory propelled Mexico into the 2011 Women’s World Cup in Germany. Vinti played soccer her 4 years at USD while Garcia still attends the university. The “Natalies” as they are called by Mexican coach Leo Cuellar, sat down with Sammy Atri of Scholarship For Athletes to describe their experiences with the Mexico National Team as well as their college life at the University of San Diego.
